Longterm Resident Artist

Emma Eckert is a potter, nurse, and artist from West Virginia, currently an artist-in-residence at Cider Creek Collective in Albion, California. She makes functional, wood-fired pottery rooted in everyday use, attentive craftsmanship, and the quiet beauty of the world around her. Her forms are part of an ever-evolving conversation with the world, shaped especially by life on the coast. She fires her work in wood kilns, finding in the intimate, complex, and earnest process a practice that is central to her being.

Artist Statement: I wish to be surrounded by beautiful things. I make wood-fired pottery as a way of bringing my inner world into form. I make in service of an idea- to follow a vision and give it a physical presence through clay, fire, and time. Through research and experimentation, I seek a balance between intention and surrender, allowing knowledge and uncertainty to exist together. I seek to surrender myself to the common work of the world- to the labor of my hands and the discipline of making- quietly and of my own volition.

Longterm Resident Artist

Rino Kodama (b. 1998 Singapore) is a California based Shin-Nisei artist working in clay, visualizing landscapes of connection and transformation, inspired by the regenerative and symbiotic possibilities of the natural world.

Kodama holds a BA from UCLA, and most recently attended the inaugural session of Schools of Salmon Creek, co-creating and learning with 5 other artists on Pomo land.  Outside the studio, they love working with other artists to curate and install exhibitions at the Mendocino Art Center.

Longterm Resident Artist

Hi, my name is Brandon and I just love making pots for everyday use. Reaching for the hem of the ineffable keeps me in the game: the nearly impossible task of creating an object that has that thing about it that just feels right, that it has a spirit of its own. As a perfectionist in recovery, I try to not fuss over my pots too much. I tend to make small things like cups, bowls, teapots, and vessels that keep herbs or coffee beans. My day job is psychotherapy. I was raised in Orillia, Ontario, and have resided in various parts of NorCal for 20 years or so.
